Young Indians in 2005: Bolder, busier and global
IBEF: July 25, 2005

‘Work hard, play hard’ attitude, penchant for independent living, apartment ownership, constant craving for a better car & mobile phone, a holiday abroad at least once in two years, penchant for starting something on their own and huge expenses on credit card mark the lifestyle and aspirations of young executives in India. If stress at workplace has gone up manifold over the years, so has health consciousness among youth.

In four key areas, the young executives of today appear to have adopted values that did not exist 15 years ago: work & career, independent living, changing lifestyle and social responsibility.

The young executives polled work in a variety of Indian and multinational companies across Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore. These firms include ICICI Bank, Derivium Capital & Securities, JP Morgan Chase, Infosys Technologies, Shaadi.com, Baysquare Technologies, Murugappa Group, Dell Computers, Birla Sun Life Insurance, Hindustan Petroleum and NIIT.
