If you can’t beat them, join them. That seems to be the latest buzz in the global pharmaceutical industry. Large pharma multinationals have begun looking at India to source their API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) requirements.
It is the larger Indian companies that first set the trend in the last decade, with Ranbaxy-Eli Lilly and Lupin-Cynamid signing among the first major contract manufacturing deals in the country. Now, as the pie is getting bigger, other, smaller companies are getting into the fray.
