India is the Focus Country at the upcoming three-day pharmaceuticals event - CPhI Worldwide - to be held in Madrid from October 9–11, 2012. CPhI Worldwide is the largest pharmaceutical trade exhibition across the globe. After launching the Brand India Pharma campaign on March 21, 2012, at CPhI Japan in Tokyo, the Union Ministry of Commerce & Industry is all set to take it to the next level with its Europe launch at CPhI Worldwide.
The Ministry is working closely with India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) and Pharmexcil (the pharmaceutical export promotion council) for this initiative. The underlying objective of Brand India Pharma campaign is to highlight the value proposition that Indian pharmaceutical sector holds for the global pharmaceutical industry.
Over 200 Indian pharmaceutical companies are participating at the event. CPhI Worldwide will host a dedicated India pavilion which will be inaugurated by Mr S R Rao, Commerce Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, who will be accompanied by senior officials of the Department of Commerce and a large Indian business delegation.
The senior government officials along with Indian pharma business leaders and the drug regulators will interact with global editors at a press conference to convey the values Brand India Pharma campaign represents. It will be followed by a Business Seminar on the topic Indian Generics: Quality & Affordability.
