The Union Budget 2014-15 presented in the Lok Sabha today provides a roadmap for strengthening the foundations and taking India to the next growth trajectory. Key issues like driving employment generation, industrial growth, boosting exports, modernising infrastructure, invigorating entrepreneurship, setting up institutions of excellence at the state level, capacity building, export promotion, including dedicated programmes for smart cities, industrial clusters and traditional arts and crafts – all provide strong direction and perspective for a growth oriented roadmap. The policy decisions and projects being announced reflect the necessity to highlight the aim to ensure overall development of the country – bringing the states into effective partnership mode. The budget duly resonates with the 5Ts approach by giving due emphasis to all dimensions necessary to power Brand India, namely Tradition, Talent, Tourism, Trade and Technology. It points to what we would like to term Brand India, Five dimensions – one direction, a confluence of ideas and progress.
