The Indian automobile industry is set to become a global leader by 2020 with the Tata's breakthrough innovation like the Nano showing the way, according to IT and consultancy giant, IBM. Also, Hyundai Motor Company is planning to make India the global hub for R&D and production of its small cars.

Significantly, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) expects India's industrial production to grow by 9.1 per cent in the current fiscal.

Meanwhile, the number of companies signing up to adopt the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Code for Ecologically Sustainable Business Growth, which aims to encourage companies to reduce consumption of natural resources and emission of greenhouse gases, has been rising.
