Allocation of Rs.2000 Crore to Food Processing Industries to Give a Big Boost to the Sector

New Delhi: Food Processing Minister, Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal has welcomed the allocation of Rs. 2000 crore for Food Processing. She has been pitching for linking food processing industries to the credit given by NABARD and this is being seen as a quantum step in the right direction. Smt. Harsimrat Kaur Badal exuded confidence that this allocation shall give a big boost to food processing industries in the country.

During his reply on the discussions on the General Budhet in the Parliament, the Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley had announced an allocation of Rs.2000 crores as a separate NABARD fund for food processing industries.

Later in the day, Food Processing Minister met Shri Mahadev Naik, Minister of Industries Goa to discuss development of food processing sector in Goa. She told Shri Naik that her government’s priority is to make food processing an engine of growth for agriculture sector so that both farmers and consumer are benefited and processor flourishes.
