Amazon.in launches same-day delivery in Mumbai

Bengaluru: Within months of launching its one day delivery service, online retail site Amazon.in has launched same-day delivery in Mumbai.

"The service has been launched in Mumbai. This service will be launched in other cities as well," said a person with direct knowledge of the development. The company declined to confirm the launch.

Earlier this month the site had launched a pickup service in Mumbai and Delhi, where customers can choose to pick up their orders from In&Out stores located at filling stations of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited ( BPCL).

Days after Amazon launched one day delivery in December, its main competitor Flipkart too launched a similar service. Snapdeal launched a same-day delivery service for select products in Delhi-NCR in January.

While Snapdeal allows customers to place orders until 1pm to avail of this service, Amazon.in has set a deadline of 10 am. The service is available on over 160,000 products that are fulfilled by Amazon, where the site picks up the product from the seller, packs and delivers it to the customer.
