Bharti Airtel added 2.84 million subscribers in January

New Delhi: Sunil Mittal-driven Bharti Airtel has added 2.84 million connections, maximum among other GSM operators, in the month of January, telecom group Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said in a statement Tuesday.

Aditya Birla group's Idea Cellular and the Indian arm of the UK-based Vodafone group added 2.22 million and 1.82 million subscribers respectively during the same period.

With 8.87 million new GSM connections in January, the total pan-India subscriber base reached 687.42 million, COAI said.

In January, Bihar circle added maximum number of connections with 1.45 million while UP east circle remains largest in overall additions with a total of 60.83 million customers.
