Bharti Airtel to invest Rs 60,000 crore over 3 years to upgrade its network

New Delhi: India’s biggest telecommunications carrier, Bharti Airtel Ltd, has planned to invest Rs 60,000 crore (US$ 8.97 billion) over the next three years to upgrade its network to improve voice and data services. Stating that the company has already bought most of the radio airwaves needed, Mr Gopal Vittal, Bharti Airtel’s chief executive for India and South Asia, said that majority of the investment will be in building infrastructure. The planned investment includes the capital expenditure target of around US$ 2.2 billion for the current fiscal year.
