Cabinet gives nod for National Investment and Manufacturing Zone in Tumakuru

Bengaluru: The state Cabinet on Thursday cleared the proposal for a National Investment and Manufacturing Zone (NIMZ) in Tumakuru near Bengaluru. A few months ago, it had given the nod for a NIMZ at Kalaburagi.

As the proposed Bengaluru-Chennai industrial corridor has been extended to Chitradurga, the Cabinet also decided to develop the district as a manufacturing zone. "This would create 80,000 direct jobs and indirect employment to 1.6 lakh people," law minister TB Jayachandra told reporters after the Cabinet meeting. The Tumakuru NIMZ will cover more than 13,000 acres in Vasanthanarsapur and Sira taluks.
