Cognizant buys Japanese digital firm Brilliant Service Co

Bengaluru: Cognizant said it acquired Japanese digital IT firm Brilliant Service Co for an undisclosed amount, as it continues its buyout spree. 

Brilliant Service, which was founded in 2004 and has about 70 employees, helps its customers build connected businesses by leveraging smart device solutions. 

"Brilliant Service's extensive experience in planning, implementing and managing smart and connected device solutions, together with their strong understanding of the regulatory requirements for the Japanese market, will complement our digital service offerings in Japan,” Jayajyoti Sengupta, Asia Pacific Head at Cognizant, said in a statement. 

The acquisition also expands Cognizant’s presence in Osaka and Tokyo. 

"By becoming a part of Cognizant, we can expand our capabilities to deliver integrated solutions to our customers and pursue growth opportunities," Yoshihiko Sugimoto, CEO at Brilliant Service, said. 

Cognizant has said it expects to accelerate its buyout activity going forward.
