Crompton Greaves bags order for smart grid solutions in Portugal

Mumbai: Crompton Greaves has bagged an order in Portugal to supply data concentrator units, a system used in smart grids, to Energias de Portugal, the Avantha Group company said on Tuesday.

The company did not detail the financial consideration for the order. The order would be serviced by Crompton Greaves' subsidiary in Spain, ZIV.

The company said it foresees a strong growth in the smart grid segment with ZIV solutions, especially after a successful year with key wins from European Utilities such as Iberbrola, Gas Natural Fenosa in Spain, EDP in Portugal and ERDF in France, as well as a strategic win in Saudi Arabia that will open the door to a promising market growth in this financial year, 2015-2016.

"This new win strengthens our leadership in Power Line Communicated Solutions. As the first provider having developed its own implementation of power line communication technology in its smart grid devices, we foresee a promising future in this market segment," said CG's CEO and Managing Director Laurent Demortier.
