Non-subsidised LPG cheaper by Rs 43.5 per cylinder, jet fuel by 12.50 per cent

New Delhi: The oil marketing companies have reduced the price of non-subsidi sed liquefied petroleum cooking gas (LPG) by Rs 43.5 (US$ 0.68) per cylinder as the international oil rates fell to their lowest since May 2009. A 14.2 K g cylinder of non-subsidised LPG will now cost Rs 708.5 (US$ 11.19) in Delhi.

This is the fifth straight reduction in rates of market-priced LPG since August 2014. Consumers use non-subsidised LPG after exhausting their quota of 12 subsidised cylinders in a year.

The price of non-subsidised LPG was previously reduced on December 1, 2014 by Rs 113. Prices have been brought to a three year low. The price of subsidised LPG has not been changed and each such LPG cylinder currently costs Rs 417 (US$ 6.58) in Delhi.

In addition, jet fuel rates have been cut by 12.5 per cent, the sixth straight reduction in prices since August 2014 , the price was last cut by 4.1 per cent on December 1, 2014. The fuel constitutes more than 40 per cent of airlines’ operating costs and the price cut will ease the financial burden o n cash-strapped carriers.

ATF rates now are at their lowest level since February 2011.
