West Bengal received investment proposals worth Rs 2.43 trillion

New Delhi: West Bengal has secured investments proposals worth around Rs.2.43 trillion (US$ 38.98 billion) across education, health, mining, steel, infrastructure and financial services sector during the two-day Bengal Global Business Summit on January 7-8, 2015, said Ms Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal.

Investment proposals worth Rs 93,600 crore (US$ 15.01 billion) were received on Day 1, while investments proposals worth Rs 150,000 crore (US$ 24.06 billion) were received on Day 2.

Some of the major investments include Rs 15,000 crore (US$ 2.41 billion) from the Essel Group and a number of real estate and township development projects by the Mani Group, Hiland Group and Forum Projects.

The summit was immensely successful and the amount of investments secured is expected to move up further in the coming days, said Ms Banerjee during the concluding ceremony of the summit.
