Brand India today stands for creativity, versatility and adaptability.
Why creativity? India has proved to the world today that it is an idea-rich nation. It is forever evolving in the areas of art, creating new styles of music, boasts of colourful traditional costumes and shows new ways to do things.
Why versatility? A strange mix of the old and the new, India today treasures history but looks to the future; it preserves its art and culture but explores unchartered ground. It is traditional yet modern, cultural but progressive, poor and rich. From fashion to tourism, to technology, it is making a name for itself everywhere.
Why adaptability? Indians by far are one of the most adaptable people on earth. They can face adversities and enjoy luxuries; they can labour and enjoy the fruits of labour, likewise!
I think that infrastructure spends and the inclusion of rural India into larger national programmes will be key drivers for the emerging India. We have already seen a start with the infrastructure — like the Metro that is shaping up — and how it is changing the life of the average Indian.
A growing economy and increasing infrastructure spends by the government have led to the boom in the infrastructure sector. India boasts of indigenous skills in engineering and technology, which compete with the best in the world. I am confident that the Indian construction industry will continue to see a surge!
