According to the data released by Grant Thornton India, an accounting and consulting firm, the total merger and acquisitions (M&A) and private equity (PE) deals in the month of May 2013 were valued at US$ 3.16 billion (73 deals) as compared to US$ 2 billion (66 deals) in the corresponding month of 2012.
Moreover, the total value of outbound deals (Indian companies acquiring businesses outside India) in May 2013 was US$ 301 million (9 deals). The total value of inbound deals (foreign companies or their subsidiaries acquiring Indian businesses) in May 2013 were valued at US$ 102 million (8 deals).
The total value of domestic deals in the month of May 2013 were US$ 891 million (22 deals) as compared to US$ 488 million (19 deals) and US$ 721 million (23 deals) during the corresponding month in 2012 and 2011 respectively.
