Govt launches DigiShala channel to promote digital payments
Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister of Law & Justice and Information Technology, has launched a free Doordarshan DTH channel called DigiShala, which will help people understand the use of unified payments interface (UPI), USSD, aadhaar-enabled payments system, electronic wallets, debit and credit cards, thereby promoting various modes of digital payments.

NITI Aayog has announced launch of two schemes for incentivising digital payments, Lucky Grahak Yojana for consumers and Digi-Dhan Vyapar Yojana for merchants, under which consumers and merchants will be eligible to win daily and weekly cash awards between Rs 1,000 ( ~US$ 15) to Rs 1 lakh (US$ 1,475) from December 25, 2016, leading up to a mega prizes of up to Rs 1 crore (US$ 147,494) to be announced by draw on April 14, 2017.
India Signs Open Skies Agreement With Six Countries During ICAN 2016
During the International Civil Aviation Negotiations (ICAN) 2016 held in Nassau during December 5-9, India has signed Open Skies Agreement to encourage connectivity and passenger travel between India and Jamaica, Guyana, Czech Republic, Finland, Spain and Sri Lanka, apart from resolving other issues such as greater traffic rights, new service agreements and code sharing with several other countries.

As per a study ‘Social Value Economy’ of 250 social enterprises by the British Council along with Ennovent Pvt Ltd and Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs, 53 per cent of such enterprises in India are focussed on skill development, followed by 30 per cent on education, while also indicating the higher level of inclusiveness and youth leadership in comparison to mainstream businesses.
