While India invites global companies to manufacture their products in the country, the potential for services exports is also immense, aptly described as 'The India Opportunity'. India has the second fastest growing services sector in the world with compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.7 per cent (2001–2013) according to the Economic Survey for 2014–15. The fast growth of the services sector has enabled an erstwhile agrarian Indian economy to leapfrog the intermediate manufacturing stage to emerge as one of the frontrunners in the global knowledge economy
