Considered to be the second-highest cargo handling state in India, Andhra Pradesh has a major port at Visakhapatnam, two Intermediate ports and 10 minor ports. The state witnessed an increase in the per capita income from US$ 421 in 2001-02 to US$ 519 in 2005-06.
The state has identified apparels, fabrics and furnishings as its growth engines, and targets to achieve US$ 2.04 billion per annum from exports of handloom and textiles by 2010.
