Panaji: The Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) plans to develop 21 new railway stations on the Konkan route and double 147 km stretch of the track under its expansion and modernisation project, which is estimated to cost around Rs 3,000 crore (US$ 458.56 million). The new additions will raise the total number of railway stations on the route to 87 and would also reduce the distance between two stations to 8.3 km from 12.75 km. Around 35 km of the doubled railway track would pass through the Goa region.
