Airbus signs MoU with T govt, NSDC

Hyderabad: European aviation giant Airbus on Wednesday announced that it has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Telangana government, National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Aerocampus France to set up a centre of excellence (CoE) for aerospace skill development in Hyderabad.

The MoU was signed at the Aero India 2017 air show in Bengaluru in the presence of Rajiv Pratap Rudy, minister of state for skill development and entrepreneurship, and KT Rama Rao, Telangana minister for IT, industries, MA & UD, NRI affairs.

The CoE will come up at Begumpet Airport and will offer training on aircraft manufacturing, logistics, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), ground handling and special aviation processes.

"This first of its kind CoE aims to enhance the employability of young aspirants by imparting the required skills," Rudy said.

The CoE will offer short-term refresher modules as well as long-term certificate and diploma courses that will find acceptability within the industry, Airbus said in a release. While the Telangana government will provide space for setting up the center and arrange the initial seed fund for the project, NSDC will select candidates to be trained at the center.
