Dutch firm Stahl opens dyes testing center in Maharashtra

Mumbai: Stahl Holdings, the Netherlands-based manufacturer of process chemicals for leather products and performance coatings, has eyeing to tap the Indian leather industry with its global solutions in dyes. As a part of this strategy, the company recently opened a dyes center of excellence in Thane, Maharashtra, to focus on the testing and development of existing and new dyestuffs.

“The decision to open this dyes center of excellence is fully in line with our position as industry leader in the wet-end leather segment,” explained Huub van Beijeren, CEO, Stahl.

Tuncay Deriner, managing director of Stahl India and IPB region, added, “This center will become a hub for testing and maintaining the quality of dyestuffs in line with any international norms and beyond. Here we will focus on high-end analysis of leather dyes and new product development to support the wet-end leather segment.”

The center, which is equipped with state-of-the-art machines, will ensure that only fully-tested quality dyes ranges are supplied to the customers. “It provides us with the opportunity to perform physical testing, computerised colour value analysis, impurity profile by thin layer chromatography, as well as all standard leather processing operational processes,” said Sopan Zope, dyes development manager, Stahl India.
