In July 2019, Domestic air passenger traffic up 3.15 per cent

IndiGo Airlines stood as the leading airlines accounting for 47.8 per cent share of domestic passenger market in July.

In July 2019, Domestic airlines flew 1.19 crore travellers also enlisting a 3.15 per cent increase over the 1.15 crore travellers flown as previous year.

Information released by the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation stated that IndiGo held the no.1 position in terms of number of travellers carried, which stood at 56.93 lakh, while SpiceJet came second flying 18.48 lakh travellers and GoAir flew 13.26 lakh travellers.

In July 2019, AirAsia carried 7.71 lakh travellers, while Vistara flew 7.15 lakh travellers.

SpiceJet announced the highest Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of 92.4 per cent among the domestic airlines in July pursued by Go Air (90.4 per cent), Air Asia (89.5 per cent) IndiGo (89.5 per cent), and Vistara (82.4 per cent).

The passenger load factor indicates how many of total seats on offer by every airline are getting filled.

GoAir’s on-time performance (OTP), which stood at 80.5 per cent, has been the best across four metro airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, followed by the other airlines like AirAsia (77.7 per cent) and IndiGo (74.4 per cent).

The airline industry paid over Rs. 4.35 crore (US$ 0.6 million) including Rs. 2.03 crore (US$ 0.28 million) to the over 2.55 lakh passengers due to flight delays and also over Rs. 1.21 crore (US$ 0.017 million) has been paid to more than 48,000 passengers due to cancellation of flights.

As per the DGCA data, in July 2019, Air India witnessed maximum number of passenger grievances which stood at 2.1 complaints per 10,000 travellers followed by SpiceJet with 0.8 complaints per 10,000 travellers.
