NTPC awards US$ 321.22 million (2,311 crore) contracts to GE Steam Power

GE Power India said on Monday it has been granted three contracts from government claimed NTPC Ltd to supply and introduce wet vent gas de-sulfurization (FGD) frameworks for a consolidated estimation of US$ 321.22 million.

The three power plant projects are IGSTPP Jhajjar (3x500 MW) by Aravali Power Company, Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station Stage I (2x500MW) and Stage II (2x500 MW) by NTPC and Sipat Super Thermal Power Station by Stage I (3x660 MW) by NTPC.

NTPC is adopting and promoting emission- control equipment to abide by new emission rules including reduction of sulphur dioxide (S02) and GE steam power will help NTPC to achieve this goal.

GE will be able to remove up to 0.10 million tonnes per year of SO2 by treating 35 million cubic metres per hour of flue gas that will give gypsum as a by-product. Gypsum will be used in the construction industry.

GE will thus reduce environmental impact due to the production of SO2 by offering advanced emission control technologies along with service solutions.
