RJio rolls out broadband operations with slew of freebies

Reliance Jio launched its optical fibre broadband services on 5th September. The service starts with a basic plan costing Rs. 699 (US$ 10) per month for a 100 Mpbs connection bundled with 100 GB of data.

Consumers with high demand can get up to 500 GB of data at 1 Gbps speeds at a cost of Rs 8,499 (US$121.6) a month. The plan is launched with a one-time upfront fee of Rs. 2,500 (US$ 35.77), out of which Rs. 1,000 (US$ 14.30) is non-refundable.

Jio is providing a whole bunch of services with the broadband connection despite of tariffs not been the cheapest in the country. With every connection, user will get a fixed line phone which can be used to make free voice calls to anywhere across the country. Video conferencing will be also available freely on TV and gaming and security services. Plans above Rs. 3,999 (US$ 57.21) offer access to virtual reality experiences. Users will be also able to watch movies on the same day of it released in theatres.

RJio has also introduced offer with the connection for promotion purpose. It will be giving away its 4K- set top box worth Rs. 6,400 (US$ 91.57) and Jio Home Gateway worth Rs. 5,000 (US$ 71.54) bundled with all tariff plans. Three- month subscriptions of OTT platforms will also be available with each connection although the availability of the applications is yet to be made clear.

Annual plans are also introduced starting at Rs. 8,388 (US$ 120) for 10 Mbps speed with 1,200 GB. 

The top-end annual plan is priced at overs Rs. 1 lakh (US$ 1430.8), which offers 1 Gpbs speed and 60,000 GB data. This plan comes with a 4K 43-inch TV worth nearly Rs. 45,000 (US$ 643.8).
