According to the data released by Grant Thornton India, an accounting and consulting firm, the total merger and acquisitions (M&A) and private equity (PE) deals in the month of August 2013 were valued at US$ 2.84 billion (68 deals).
Moreover, the total value of outbound deals (Indian companies acquiring businesses outside India) in August 2013 was US$ 2.68 billion (4 deals) as compared to US$ 42 million (9 deals) in the month of August 2012 . The total value of inbound deals (foreign companies or their subsidiaries acquiring Indian businesses) in August 2013 were valued at US$ 428 million (12 deals) as compared to US$ 312 million (11 deals) during the corresponding month in 2012.
The total value of domestic deals in the month of August 2013 were US$ 380 million (15 deals).
