President Ram Nath Kovind quoted that the cooperation between India and Singapore during COVID-19 pandemic has strengthened the existing friendship and trust and congratulated the Singapore government on the successful conduct of general elections. Mr. Kovind accepted the letter of credence during the virtual event from Mr. Simon Wong Wie Kuen, the high commissioner of Singapore to India.
While addressing the students at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Minister for Commerce & Industry and Railways, Mr Piyush Goyal said that the government is working with states and local bodies deregulate and make it easier to start a business. He also said that India is ready to sign a limited trade deal with the US and the exports have started showing upward trajectory. Mr Goyal suggested that in order to have a greater engagement in global trade, India’s unique selling point should be around high quality, good service and good pricing.
Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Steel, Mr Dharmendra Pradhan has dedicated 56 CNG stations to the nation and calls upon the entrepreneurs to take advantage of policy reforms and bring in innovation in fuel marketing. Speaking on the occasion, he said that in the last 6 years, the number of CNG stations has gone up from 947 to over 2300 and presently more than 400 districts of the country are being covered by the City Gas distribution network.
NASSCOM FutureSkills and Microsoft launched AI Classroom Series to skill India’s future workforce with AI capabilities. This initiative aims to skill 1 million students in AI by 2021. The scope of classrooms will be focused on delivering Microsoft’s AI, machine learning, and data science expertise to undergraduate students at no cost.
At the virtual meet organised to launch Aatmanirbhar Bharat ARISE Atal New India Challenges by NiTI Ayog, the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Mr Nitin Gadkari said that he aims to enhance the MSME contribution to GDP from about 30 % to 50%; and in exports from 49% to 60 . The government also target to create of 5 crore additional jobs in MSME sector in next 5 years. The Minister further advocated broadbasing support for innovations and entrepreneurship so that bonafide new talent also get chance to grow. This helps in lowering costs as well.
The Union Commerce and Industry & Railways Minister, Mr Piyush Goyal has said that India is working on clean energy mission with a collective mindset to achieve a cleaner future and envisions that power will be almost free in the world because of renewable sources. He also said that India, which has a demonstrated capability to go up to 745 GW of solar energy, will be providing power to other parts of the world in their peak hours.
Through KVIC E-Portal, Khadi and Village Industry Commission has established a pan-India reach of artisans to sell their products to the remotest parts of India. The online sale evolved into a full-fledged e-market platform with 180 products and many more in the pipeline. KVIC is adding at least 10 new products to its online inventory daily and it has set a target of adding at least 1000 products by October 2 this year. In less than two months’ time, KVIC has served nearly 4000 customers.

The government has reportedly cleared a US$ 100 bn proposal that allows manufacturers to export smartphones made in India to other parts of the world. Smartphone brands such as Samsung, Lava, Karbonn and contract manufactures Foxconn, Wistron, Pegatron are cleared to export smartphones made in India.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is in the process of setting up an innovation hub which will focus on future technology in the financial services space. RBI executive director Mr. T Rabi Sankar has stated, "We would expect technology firms, financial entities, academic entities, even funding agencies, all of them to interact on this hub and start the entire process from ideation to creation to piloting of solutions."
As part of the Rs 1.70 lakh (US$23.11 bn) crore Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package (PMGKP), the Government announced free food grains and cash payment to women and poor senior citizens and farmers. The swift implementation of the package is being continuously monitored by Central and State governments. Around 42 crore poor people received financial assistance of Rs 68,820 crore (US$9.36 bn) under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package.

Mr. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry is closely monitoring the progress made in these projects and generation of work opportunities for the migrant labours of these states under this scheme. Around 164 Railway infrastructure projects are being executed in these states.
An EY report on India’s agri-tech potential has stated that with a turnover of USD $204 mn, India’s agri-tech sector is at under 1% of its market potential today. A big chunk of the technology implementation gains will likely be made by companies addressing supply chain and financial services solutions, driven by the availability of affordable high-speed internet and maturing of India’s digital content ecosystem.
Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi will digitally launch the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and e-Gopala App, which is a comprehensive breed improvement marketplace and information portal for direct use of farmers. The investment of US$ 2.72 billion under PMMSY is the highest ever in the fisheries sector. Out of this, an investment of about US$ 1.68 bn is proposed for beneficiary-oriented activities in Marine, Inland fisheries and Aquaculture and about US$ 1.04 bn investment for Fisheries Infrastructure.
