About The Event

ANUGA is a leading food and beverage show being held during October 7-11, 2017 in Cologne, Germany. The event is attended by around 160,000 visitors and showcases innovative products from over 7,000 exhibitors. Ten trade fairs are hosted under the ANUGA trade fair (sourced from www.anuga.com):

With 82 million consumers, Germany is the largest market for food and beverage players in Europe. Total food retailing revenue reached € 191 billion in 2015, growing by 2.3%. India @ ANUGA 2017

India is participating as a partner country at ANUGA in 2017 and is represented by five broad sectors - agricultural and processed foods, tea, coffee, spices and oilseeds & produce led by APEDA, Tea Board, Coffee Board, Spices Board and IOPEPC respectively; under the aegis of Department of Commerce, Government of India. IBEF is working as a branding partner with these associations for promotion of these sectors during the event.

Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)

APEDA was established by the Government of India under the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority Act passed by the Parliament in December, 1985. APEDA is mandated with the responsibility of export promotion and development of a wide range of agricultural and processed food products including Fruits, Vegetables and their Products, Meat and Meat Products, Poultry and Poultry Products, Dairy Products, Confectionery, Biscuits and Bakery Products, Honey, Jaggery and Sugar Products, Cocoa and its products, chocolates of all kinds, Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Cereal and Cereal Products, Groundnuts, Peanuts and Walnuts, Pickles, Papads and Chutneys, Guar Gum, Floriculture and Floriculture Products, Herbal and Medicinal Plants. Basmati Rice has been included in the Second Schedule of APEDA Act.

Tea Board of India

Tea Board India is a body corporate under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, set up by an Act of Parliament in 1953. Tea Board India has wide functions and responsibilities for development of the tea industry, export promotion, domestic generic promotion, R&D activities, licensing, labour welfare activities, compilation of statistical data etc.  It is a facilitator of the Indian Tea industry and looks after various matters pertaining to the industry.

Coffee Board of India

Coffee Board was established by the Government of India through a constitutional act “Coffee Act VII of 1942” under the administrative control of Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The core activities are primarily directed towards research & development, transfer of technology, quality improvement, extending development support to growing sector, promotion of coffee in export and domestic markets. The activities of the Board are broadly aimed at

  • enhancement of production, productivity & quality;
  • export promotion for achieving higher value returns for Indian Coffee and
  • supporting development of Domestic market.

Spices Board of India

Spices Board was constituted in 1987 under Spices Board Act 1986 with the responsibility of production/development of cardamom and export promotion of 52 spices.

Spices Board (Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India) is the flagship organization for the development and worldwide promotion of Indian spices. The Board is an international link between the Indian exporters and the importers abroad. The Board has been spearheading activities for excellence of Indian spices, involving every segment of the industry.

The Board aims to develop, promote and regulate export of spices and undertake programmes and projects for promotion of export of spices. Schemes has been implemented to provide assistance for export promotion of all spices through support for Technology upgradation, quality maintenance, Brand promotion and research & product development.

Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council

Engaged in the development and promotion of exports of oilseeds and oils, Indian Oilseeds and Produce Export Promotion Council (IOPEPC), has been catering to the needs of exporters since the past six decades. Products under the purview of IOPEPC are as follows:

Oilseeds: Groundnut, Sesame seed, Soybean, Mustard/Rapeseed, Niger seed, Safflower seed, Sunflower seed, Linseed, Cotton seed, Castor seed.

Oils: Groundnut oil, Sesame oil, Soya oil, Mustard oil, Safflower oil, Sunflower oil, Linseed oil, Cotton oil, Castor oil and Peanut butter.

CEPCI

The Cashew Export Promotion Council of India (CEPC) was established by the Government of India in the year 1955, with the active cooperation of the cashew industry with the object of promoting exports of cashew kernels and cashewnut shell liquid from India. By its very set up, the Council provides the necessary institutional frame-work for performing the different functions that serve to intensify and promote exports of cashew kernels and cashewnut shell liquid.

The Council provides the necessary liaison for bringing together foreign importers with member exporters of cashew kernels. The enquiries received from the foreign importers are circulated amongst Council members. It also extends its good offices in settling complaints amicably in the matter of exports/imports either on account of quality and/or variation in fulfilment of contractual obligations.

The Council undertakes publicity abroad with a view to projecting the 'Product Image' which serves to highlight and focus attention on the high quality and superiority of Indian cashews. It participates in specialised International Food Fairs/ Exhibitions and general fairs abroad.

India was the first country to hit the world market with cashew kernels and also the first country to pioneer cashew processing as an industry. It is the largest producer, processor and exporter of cashews in the world.
