Indian Oil Corp to invest Rs 15,000 crore to raise Panipat refinery capacity by 34 per cent

New Delhi: Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) plans to increase the capacity of its Panipat refinery by 34 per cent, increasing it to 20.2 million tonnes (MT) by 2020. The expansion requires an investment of US$ 2.38 billion and will take about five years to complete. IOC has a total of nine refineries and the cumulative capacity of all refineries amount to 54.2 MT, one of which was added recently. According to company officials, IOC also has plans to increase the capacity of its Koyali refinery by 4.3 MT to 18 MT as well as to raise the capacity of Mathura refinery from three MT to 11 MT. The expansion will serve the fuel needs of west and northern India.
