Mumbai: Praj Industries Ltd on Wednesday said it has won an order from Uganda’s Kakira Sugar to build an ethanol plant with a capacity of 60,000 litres per day. The company, however, did not disclose the value of the order.

The plant will produce fuel ethanol and premium grade extra neutral alcohol (beverage alcohol), the firm informed BSE.

The plant will use captive power for almost 50-60% of its electricity requirement and the effluents generated by the plant will be converted into bio-compost, the firm said.

Praj said in the filing that it had recently commissioned a fuel grade ethanol plant in Sierra Leone in Africa.

At 11.23am, Praj’s shares were trading at Rs.59.60 on BSE, up 1.45%, while the benchmark Sensex was trading at 26,917.91 points, down 0.26%.
