Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu to visit Barcelona to study 'Smart City' aspects

New Delhi: Also to inaugurate Smart City Expo World Congress as Main Guest

Urban Development Minister Shri M.Venkaiah Naidu will undertake a three day visit to the city of Barcelona, Spain during November 17-19, 2014. He leaves tonight for the Spanish City on the invitation of the Mayor of Barcelona to inaugurate and address the 'Smart City Expo World Congress' on Tuesday i.e November 18, 2014.

Shri Venkaiah Naidu will hold talks with the Mayor of Barceona Mr.Xavier Trias and other senior officials on the planning for and evolution of Barcelona as a model smart city in the world. He will also hold discussions with senior officials of Japanese cities of Kyoto, Yokohama and Fukoka. Shri Naidu will also talk to the senior officials of the World Bank and leading companies of the world associated with building smart cities in the context of the initiative of the Government of India for developing 100 smart cities in the country.

Several countries like Japan, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Israel, United Kingdom, the United States of America, Hongkong, the Netherlands etc. besides multinational corporate have shown keen interest in partnering in building smart cities in India.
