Tata Motors enters Algerian market with passenger vehicle range

Mumbai: Tata Motors Ltd, India’s largest auto maker by sales revenue, has entered the Algerian market with its passenger vehicle range, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

The company has appointed SPA Elsecom for distribution and marketing of Tata passenger vehicles in Algeria.

The new range including the Indica and Vista hatchbacks and Indigo and Manza sedans is now available for sale, it said.

In association with SPA Elsecom, the company has set up dealerships at Algiers and Oran. It plans to establish 10 additional sales and service centres to mark its presence in important regions by the end of this year.

Tata Motors, which started overseas sales in 1961, has presence in various countries across Europe, Latin America, Africa, Russia, Middle East, Asia and Australia. Algeria has been earmarked as a focus market in Tata Motors’s global strategy, the company said.

Shares of Tata Motors closed 0.54% higher at Rs.524.40 on BSE. The benchmark Sensex added 0.29% to 26,638.11 points.
