Realising that biotechnology as a multidisciplinary industry impacts several other related sectors like agriculture and health, and as a corollary, the country’s overall economic development, India has been leveraging its intellectual capital and is today among the top 12 biotech destinations in the world, the third largest in Asia Pacific in terms of number of companies in the sector and currently holds 2 per cent share of the global biotech industry.
