Global companies pick India for their digital services, says Nasscom

A recent study by Nasscom-Avasant reveals India's sustained appeal as the preferred destination for global businesses seeking to enhance their digital services portfolio. Over half of the companies surveyed across sectors such as travel and transportation, telecom, media and entertainment, and construction and engineering expressed a preference for outsourcing digital services to India. Additionally, nearshoring to India saw significant traction in 2023, with 41-43% of firms in sectors like telecom, discrete manufacturing, and construction opting for this practice, indicating a growing trend of leveraging nearby countries for outsourcing tasks.

The study also highlights a robust intention among global firms to ramp up investments in key digital technology areas, with 90% of respondents planning to boost their digital technology investments in 2024. This surge in digital investment is driven by a strategic shift towards prioritizing technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and intelligent automation. The report emphasizes the importance of fostering digital talent within organizations to effectively leverage advanced technologies, suggesting a strategic framework to accelerate digital adoption in an era where AI and skills are paramount.
