Highway projects worth Rs 200 cr approved for 5 states

New Delhi: Highways projects worth Rs 200 crore have been approved for improving connectivity among five states and Union Territory of Diu, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Mansukh Lal Mandaviya said Thursday.

"Highway improvement works worth around Rs 200 crore have been approved for improving the connectivity between the five States/union territories - Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Diu," Mandaviya said during a press conference.

He said work will begin soon on such projects.

Nearly 33,000 kilometres of National Highways have been constructed in the last four years in the country and work is underway on another 53,000 kilometres of National Highways, the minister said.

The government aims at completing two lakh kilometres of National Highways by the year 2022, he added.

The approved projects include widening and strengthening of Dantiwada Kuchawada, Chandisar Danthinda and Kodinar Velan Kotada roads.
