Mumbai: The fledgling retail sector can employ persons with disability and mainstreaming of such differently-abled people can help add about 5-7 percent to the GDP, according to a report.
The Trust for Retailers and Retail Associates of India, in association with British lender HSBC, launched a report that said 80 percent of the roles in retail sector are customer facing and hence employing disabled people can have a multi-prong impact.
Apart from providing employment to the people, it can also sensitise larger society about the challenges faced by the persons with disabilities, it said.
