Over 1.15 crore FASTags issued so far

According to the government, so far around 1.15 crore FASTags, an electronic toll collection system on national highways have been issued.

This electronic toll collection facility through RFID-based FASTags was started by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on its 523 toll plazas on December 15 for seamless flow of traffic.

"Over 1.15 crore FASTags have already been issued, with more than one lakh being issued every day," said the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways. It further added that the daily transactional value has crossed Rs 52 crore (US$ 7.44 million) with the number of FASTag payments surpassing 30 lakh.

Recently, the Centre also included recharge by UPI-based BHIM app among the other available mode to simplify the recharge of FASTag.
