Need for widening scope of research on modern Indian history: Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi

While addressing the Annual General Meeting of the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) Society, Lok Kalyan Marg, Delhi, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi emphasised the need for widening the scope of research on modern Indian history and asked the academic and cultural institutions to produce well-researched work on the contributions of social reformer Swami Dayanand Saraswati, whose 200th birth anniversary would fall in 2024, as well the Arya Samaj that he founded in 1875 and is going to complete 150 years of its existence in 2025.

The need for institutions in the country to create well-audited and researched recorded memory for the benefit of the present as well as future generations was also emphasized upon.

The NMML was established in memory of Mr. Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s first Prime Minister, and is an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Culture. Mr. Narendra Modi stressed on the fact that the museum is truly objective and nation-centric. He further expressed hope that the museum would soon emerge as a central attraction for visitors in Delhi. The plans for the library and the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya were laid upon by him.
