On Wednesday morning, all-India power demand achieved a record high of 185.82 gigawatts (GW), Power Secretary Mr. S N Sahai announced.
The demand for electricity continues to increase. Yet another high - all demand from India: 185.82 GW i.e. 185, 822 MW today at 09:35hrs i.e. 20/01/21. Mr. Sahai said in a tweet that it has previously crossed all India demand of 182.89 GW i.e. 182, 888 MW on December 30, 2020.

The peak power demand met (the maximum supply in a day) in January 2020 stood at 170.97 GW, according to data from the Power Ministry.
The increasing demand for energy indicates a growth in economic activity, contributing to increased commercial and industrial demand.
In September, maximum power demand increased by 1.7%, 3.4% in October, 3.5% in November and 7.3% in December.
