The manufacturing sector is witnessing a significant surge in demand for female apprentices, thanks to a shift towards gender-neutral recruitment practices. Over the past 8-10 months, there has been a five-fold increase in demand for female apprentices who have completed class 10/12, particularly in sectors like auto, Electric Vehicle (EV), electronics, and phone manufacturing.

Chief Strategy Officer at TeamLease Degree Apprenticeship, Mr. Sumit Kumar, anticipates that this trend could see female apprentices comprising up to 40% of the workforce by year-end. He advocates for integrating an Apprenticeship Credit Framework aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) to transform India's education and vocational training landscape. He stresses the need to harmonize with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) to facilitate smooth transitions for trainees across different programs and education levels, enhancing the apprenticeship experience and promoting inclusivity.
