According to official data, domestic air traffic reached a new single-day peak of 471,751 passengers on Sunday, marking a 14% increase compared to the pre-Covid average of 398,579. On April 21, the civil aviation ministry reported 471,751 domestic air passengers and 6,128 flights, surpassing last year's figures of 428,389 passengers and 5,899 flights.

The ministry highlighted India's domestic aviation sector's consistent growth, attributed to robust policies, economic development, and the expansion of low-cost carriers. The sector's upward trajectory is expected to continue as more individuals gain access to air travel. Additionally, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reported a 4.38% annual growth and 3.68% monthly growth in domestic airline passengers during January-March 2024, with 391.46 lakhs passengers carried compared to 375.04 lakhs in the same period the previous year.
