On October 3, 2022, in the presence of Mr. Rajnath Singh, Minister of Defence, the first batch of locally developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) titled "Prachand" was inducted into the Indian Air Force.

The newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Mr. Anil Chauhan, also attended the induction ceremony in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.

“LCH will enhance our capability and will boost defence production and it proves India's commitment towards self-reliance in Defence production”, said Mr. Singh.

The new helicopter joining the force can engage in aerial combat and will aid it in fending off armoured columns, drones, and slow-moving aircraft during battles.

A state-of-the-art modern combat helicopter, the Light Combat Helicopter Limited Series Production (LSP) contains roughly 45% indigenous content by value, which will progressively rise to more than 55% for the SP Version. It was designed, developed, and manufactured locally by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
