PM Modi launches multiple development initiatives worth Rs 2,095 cr in Varanasi
Foundation stone for 27 projects worth Rs. 2,095 crores (US$ 278.5 million) were laid by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi in his Varanasi parliamentary constituency. The decision comes ahead of the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, set to take place early next year. Prime Minister and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, reviewed the development projects before the inauguration.
Modi is visiting his constituency for the second time in ten days. He came to open the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor on December 13th.
At the UP State Industrial Development Authority Food Park, Karkhiyaon, Varanasi, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of 'Banas Dairy Sankul.' The dairy, which will be built on 30 acres of land and cost over Rs. 475 crores (US$ 63.11 million) will have the capacity to process 5,00,000 litres of milk each day.
The prime minister attributed the day to Kisan Diwas in honour of previous Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh. He said, "I pay tribute to former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh on his birth anniversary today. On this day, the country is celebrating 'Kisan Diwas.'"
PM Modi delivered a bonus of around Rs. 35 crores (US$ 4.7 million) to the bank accounts of more than 1,70,000 milk producers linked with Banas Dairy via digital transfer.
He also laid the foundation stone for the Milk Producers Cooperative Union Plant in Ramnagar, Varanasi, which would generate electricity using biogas.
PM Modi also unveiled a website and logo dedicated to the Bureau of Indian Standards’ (BIS) Milk Conformity Assessment Scheme, which was developed in collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
Under the Swamitva scheme of the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj, the Prime Minister essentially delivered the rural residential rights record 'Gharauni' to approximately 20 lakh citizens of Uttar Pradesh.
In Varanasi, he also inaugurated many urban development projects. Six projects for the redevelopment of Old Kashi wards, a parking and surface park at Beniabag, the beautification of two ponds, one sewage treatment plant at village Ramna, and the installation of modern security cameras at 720 places are among them.
At Bhadrasi, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated a 50-bed Integrated Ayush Hospital and laid the foundation for a Rs. 49 crores (US$ 6.5 million) Government Homeopathic Medical College in the tehsil Pindra, under the Ayush Mission.
The Prime Minister laid the groundwork for two '4 to 6 lane' road widening projects in Prayagraj and Bhadohi. The initiatives are expected to improve Varanasi's connectivity and will be a step toward easing the city's traffic congestion problem.
A Speed Breeding Facility at the International Rice Research Institute, South Asia Regional Centre Varanasi, a Regional Reference Standards Laboratory in village Payakpur, and an Advocate building at Tehsil Pindra are among the other projects launched by the Prime Minister.
The assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are set to take place early next year.
