Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi announces a new initiative - PM SHRI Schools on the occasion of Teachers’ Day

On National Teachers Day, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has unveiled a brand-new programme called PM SHRI Schools (PM Schools for Rising India). This will be a new centrally-sponsored scheme for upgradation and development of more than 14,500 schools across India by strengthening the selected existing schools from those managed by the Central Government, State Governments, UT Governments, and local entities.

PM SHRI Schools will serve as model schools, display every aspect of the National Education Policy 2020, and serve as a resource for other nearby schools. These schools' objectives will include not only high-quality instruction, learning, and cognitive growth, but also the development of whole, well-rounded people who possess essential 21st-century skills.

The pedagogy used in these schools will be more inquiry-driven, discovery-oriented, learner-centered, discussion-based, flexible, and entertaining. It will also be more experimental, holistic, and integrated. The achievement of competence in learning outcomes for every kid in every grade will be the main focus. Assessments will be competency-based and based on conceptual comprehension as well as the application of knowledge to actual situations.

These schools will have inclusive and accessible modern infrastructure, such as labs, smart classrooms, libraries, sports equipment, and art rooms. These schools will also be constructed as green schools, with energy-efficient infrastructure, recycling of garbage, water conservation, and curricular integration of an organic lifestyle.
