National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) was incorporated in 1981 as a public sector enterprise of the Government of India. It has an integrated aluminium complex which encompasses bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminium smelting and casting, power generation, rail and port operations.
Commissioned during 1985-87, Nalco has emerged to be a star performer in production, export of alumina and aluminium as well as in propelling a self-sustained growth. Its product range includes aluminium metal (ingots, billets, sows, cast strips, etc.), alumina and hydrate, zeolite-A, and special and rolled products. It has its aluminium refinery at Koraput and its smeltering plant at Orissa.
