The electronics industry witnessed a remarkable 154% growth in hiring in March 2024 compared to last year, as revealed by research conducted by Quess Corp Limited, a leading workforce management solutions provider. Among industry domains, the telecom sector emerged as the frontrunner in hiring demand, constituting 64% of total recruitment, followed by the lighting and automotive sectors. Geographically, Tamil Nadu led with a significant 33% share of hiring demand, followed by Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Telangana.

The research highlighted a substantial increase in female employment, constituting 78% of the industry's workforce, indicating a notable shift towards gender diversity and inclusion. Women increasingly occupy roles such as operators, quality assurance professionals, and testers, with some companies achieving up to 80% female representation. This surge in women's employment in electronics manufacturing can be attributed to factors such as the nature of work, which often requires precision and dexterity. Additionally, the research outlined high demand for key roles like Electronic Engineers, Instrumental Engineers, and Electronic Design Engineers, with average salaries ranging from US$ 215.46 – US$ 383.03 (Rs. 18,000 to Rs. 32,000) per month. These roles typically attract individuals between 18 and 30 years, reflecting the industry's focus on young talent.
