Kate Spade set for India launch later this year

New Delhi: The brand will leverage Reliance Brands’ market expertise and rising global demand for Kate Spade products to set up a network of stand-alone stores across major cities

For more than two decades, Kate Spade has perfected the art of playful sophistication. Launched with a single handbag, the brand’s charming wit, quirky aesthetics, bright colours and sumptuous silhouettes have garnered a cult following spanning continents. And now, the candy-coloured favourite brand of Park Avenue princesses will be in India later this year. The newly-formed partnership will leverage Reliance Brands’ market expertise and the increasing global demand for Kate Spade products to establish a network of stand-alone stores across major cities later this year. The first store will open in Delhi. “Expanding into India is an important next step for Kate Spade & Company as we continue to progress along our geographic expansion axis of growth and building global brand engagement,” said a statement from Craig A. Leavitt, CEO of Kate Spade and Co. The boutiques will stock a diverse mix of signature Kate Spade products—handbags, shoes, clothing, eyewear, stationery, jewellery and watches—that will be priced similar to the US rates.

This March, Christie’s Dubai celebrates its 10th anniversary with a week of spectacular sales, including its inaugural Important Watches auction. The auction will feature vintage and modern timepieces crafted by some of Jura Valley’s finest watchmakers. The Important Watches sale will offer the Middle Eastern clientele a variety of rare timepieces, including Patek Philippe, Panerai, Rolex and Audemars Piguet. The sale will offer 176 lots with timepieces ranging from $2,000 to $200,000. Among the standout pieces are the Roger Dubuis rare 18-carat white gold and diamond-set limited edition, skeletonized, double tourbillon wristwatch; the Rolex 18-carat gold chronography wristwatch with a champagne dial; and the elegant Patek Philippe 5101, a discreet tourbillon in 18-carat rose gold. However, our eyes are trailing the sale of the oldest watch in the collection—made by Louis Audemars. It’s an 18-carat pink gold perpetual calendar watch with moon phases made for Breguet in 1881. The auction is on 15 March at the Jumeirah Emirates Tower Hotel in Dubai.
