IBEF Celebrates 29 Years of Promoting Indian Industry and Exports Globally
New Delhi, July 11, 2025: The India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) marks 29 years since its establishment, continuing its commitment to promoting the strength and diversity of Indian industry across international markets. Set up by the Department of Commerce on July 11, 1996, IBEF has built a reputation for shaping India’s economic narrative through targeted campaigns, partnerships, and sustained knowledge-building efforts.
As India accelerates its journey toward becoming a developed economy, IBEF’s initiatives remain closely aligned with the Viksit Bharat vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Over nearly three decades, IBEF has emerged as a trusted platform for showcasing India’s export capabilities and business potential. This past year, the organisation launched the Discover India campaign, aimed at building deeper awareness about India's rich product base and cultural legacy. The campaign focused on a wide range of sectors including tea, rice, millets, fruits, organic products, and GI-tagged items, highlighting their quality, history, and relevance for global buyers.
IBEF also supported strategic trade events and branding opportunities. Among the key milestones was its contribution to Bharat Mobility, a major initiative aimed at spotlighting India’s growing strength in sustainable transport and innovation. IBEF further supported India's participation in several high-impact global exhibitions and conferences, helping position Indian businesses in front of international buyers and trade influencers. Over the past 11 years, IBEF has been an active contributor to the broader Brand India vision under the guidance of Hon’ble Minister of Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal. During this time, it has collaborated with more than 50 export promotion councils, industry associations, Indian embassies, and missions to support India’s participation in over 100 global trade events and outreach activities.
The organisation’s website, www.ibef.org, remains a leading source of credible and up-to-date information on Indian sectors, states/UTs, and economic developments. With deep sectoral insights, export data, and curated reports, the platform serves as a vital resource for global stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers who are tracking India’s trade landscape.
Beyond its campaigns and publications, IBEF continues to work closely with government departments, export promotion councils, and industry associations to build a consistent and positive image of India’s manufacturing and service capabilities. Sectors like agriculture, food processing, engineering, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and plantation commodities have all benefited from focused branding efforts supported by IBEF.
As the foundation enters its 30th year, it remains aligned with India’s broader goals of trade growth and economic resilience. IBEF acknowledges the ongoing support of the Department of Commerce, the guidance of its Board of Trustees, and the commitment of its team and partners who help bring its initiatives to life.
IBEF looks ahead to deepening its role in building India’s presence in global markets, strengthening export visibility, and supporting the next wave of sectoral growth stories from India.
