Engineering Goods Exports From India

Introduction

Engineering is by far the largest segment in the Indian industry, employing approximately four million skilled and semi-skilled workers. The engineering sector has witnessed tremendous growth, led by significant investment in power projects an infrastructure development. India's merchandise export grew 9.06 percent y-o-y in 2018-19 to reach US$ 331.02 billion.

Export Highlights

  • In FY19, India’s engineering export stood at US$ 81.02 billion and during April 2019-January 2020, it stood at US$ 64.03 billion.
  • Out of 209 export destinations of Indian engineering goods, top 25 nations accounted for 75.49 percent of India's total engineering export in 2018-19.
  • During April 2019-January 2020, top 25 nations accounted for 75.2 percent of India's total engineering export.

The export of engineering goods grew 6.32 per cent y-o-y to reach US$ 81 billion in FY2019.
