Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited

In June 2026, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited (GFL) plans to fully utilise its refrigerant gas production rights under the Montreal Protocol and the Kigali Amendment, strengthening its leadership in the fluorochemicals industry. The company expects the global phasedown of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) to create opportunities for value-added, next-generation refrigerants while leveraging its existing manufacturing capacities and regulatory quotas. This strategy is expected to support GFL’s long-term growth in environmentally compliant refrigerant solutions and reinforce its position in global export markets.

In May 2026, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited (GFL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Delhi Technological University (DTU) under the Clean Yamuna Water Initiative to develop sustainable wastewater treatment solutions. The collaboration will leverage GFL’s proprietary PVDF-based Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology for water quality monitoring, operational data generation, and research to enhance sewage treatment systems in the National Capital Region, supporting improved water management and river restoration efforts.

On February 06, 2026, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited (GFL) has announced compliance with the proposed emission limits for non-polymeric PFAS under the EU REACH restriction framework. The limits are set at 0.0090% to air and 0.0010% to water until 2030, and 0.0030% to air and 0.0006% to water thereafter. The company has achieved this through investments in advanced abatement technologies, continuous monitoring, and process improvements. These measures highlight GFL’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing and adherence to evolving global environmental standards.

On January 20, 2026, Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited (GFL) has established a step-down subsidiary, GFCL EV Advanced Materials (SFZ) LLC, in Oman to expand its global chemical manufacturing footprint. The investment amount was around Rs. 830.4 crore, (US$ 90 million), with GFCL EV Products Limited holding a 99.7% stake. The subsidiary will focus on manufacturing chemicals and is yet to commence operations. This strategic move strengthens the company’s presence in the Middle East and supports its long-term expansion in advanced materials.

On December 05, 2025, the International Finance Corporation committed Rs. 438 crore (US$ 50 million) to Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd’s GFCL EV Products subsidiary to develop India’s first fully integrated battery materials manufacturing facility, advancing domestic electric vehicle supply chains and reducing import dependence.

Gujarat Fluorochemicals subsidiary, Gujarat Fluorochemicals EV products (GFCL EV) has raised Rs. 1000 crore (US$ 116 million) at a valuation of Rs. 25,000 crore (US$ 2.91 billion). It specializes in battery materials for electric vehicles and electric storage system.

The InoxGFL Group plans to invest nearly US$ 1 billion across various sectors, including battery chemicals, green hydrogen, and wind energy services, over the next three to four years. A significant portion of this investment will be allocated to constructing India’s largest battery chemicals factory in Gujarat.

In August 2023, in the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, Gujarat Fluorochemicals signed an MoU to set up an industry Dahej-2 with an investment of Rs. 50 crore (US$ 6.04 million), to produce lithium hexafluorophosphate used as battery chemical in electric vehicles.

In April 2023, Gujarat Fluorochemicals to invest Rs. 5,000 crore (US$ 608.26 million) in EV batteries, solar and green hydrogen supply chain.

Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited has announced additional investments in its Dahej, India, integrated production plant to boost its PTFE and PVDF capacities. With a total capacity of 6 KTPA, GFL has restarted its R-125 plant (by way of the TFE route). Also, it has revealed a 10 KTPA capability in R-32, which has a low GWP, and anticipates a very long lifespan for the product (probably till CY40). The business intends to increase its AHF capacity from 120 to 220 TPD.

GFL Limited demerged to form a new resultant company, InoxFluorochemicals Limited, now known as ‘Gujarat Fluorochemicals Limited’ with all assets and liabilities pertaining to the chemical business undertaking transferred to the resultant company on a going concern basis with effect from the appointed data, April 01, 2019.
